Living Our Purpose Through Pro Bono
It’s remarkable what can be achieved when a motivated global team is aligned with a clear mission. At Cisco, our purpose is to power a more inclusive future for all. And within Cisco Legal, we live this purpose through pro bono.
When we published our inaugural pro bono report in 2023, we celebrated the participation of more than half of our US-based attorneys who donated their time and expertise to support access to justice initiatives. This year, I’m thrilled to share we’ve far exceeded those early milestones, with more than 90% of our U.S.-based attorneys engaging in pro bono work this past fiscal year. And, true to our belief that pro bono is for everyone, nearly half of our business and technical professionals contributed to pro bono as well. We also increased pro bono activities considerably in other parts of the world, reaching our goal of hosting clinics in all three of Cisco’s global regions.

As a global team of legal and compliance professionals, working across dozens of offices and multiple time zones, pro bono has emerged as a universal connection point. Cisco technology enables teams to participate in clinics that were once limited purely by physical location. As a result, we’re able to expand our reach and provide even more ways to get involved.
And there’s no shortage of opportunities when it comes to reducing the justice gap. Our volunteers provided legal and operational support across a number of critical areas—including immigration, election protection, and expungement, along with support for veterans, entrepreneurs, the elderly, survivors of domestic violence, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
The breadth and depth of this year’s report reinforces the notion that pro bono is not one size fits all. At Cisco, we encourage our colleagues to find a pro bono opportunity that aligns to their individual passion and priorities. The result is a kaleidoscope of impact, ultimately powering a more inclusive for all.
